Getting rid of roaches overnight is difficult if you already have an established infestation, but you can dramatically reduce their activity by following the same methods professional exterminators use. Start by removing food and water sources, placing high-quality gel bait in areas where roaches hide, applying an insect growth regulator (IGR) to stop reproduction, and using insecticidal dust in cracks and wall voids. In fact, using IGRs is a must for all of my technicians in the field, especially on initial roach treatments. Avoid bug bombs and excessive spraying, as these often scatter roaches instead of eliminating the colony. While you may notice fewer roaches within 24 hours, complete control usually takes several weeks, especially with German cockroaches.
Step 1: Identify Where They’re Hiding
Before using any products, you need to locate the problem areas.
Check:
- Under sinks
- Behind refrigerators and stoves
- Inside cabinets and drawers
- Around trash areas

Step 5: Eliminate Food & Water Sources
This step is non-negotiable. This is all part of step 1, Sanitation!!
